Before launching your campaign, it’s essential to verify that conversion tracking is working correctly. Follow the steps below to conduct a test conversion using the dashboard.
-
Select the Campaign
Go to your campaign list and choose the campaign you'd like to test.
2. Open the Ad Preview
Access the Ads section of your selected campaign. Find the specific creative you want to test, hover over the ad image, and click the eye icon that appears.
3. Simulate User Behavior
In the preview window that opens, click the ad and proceed through your sales funnel exactly as a user would.
4. Complete a Conversion Action
Perform the target action on your website (e.g., form submission, purchase, etc.).
Then, return to your dashboard and wait 5–15 minutes. Check the "Test conversions" column to confirm that the conversion has registered. Depending on your setup, this might show under Main Goal, Additional Goal 1, or Additional Goal 2.
It can take up to 1 hour for the test conversion to appear.
If you don’t see the column:
- Click the “Columns” button above the campaign list.
- Enable the "Test conversions" metric in the view options.
Important Notes:
- Always test through the ad preview. Clicking the preview sets a tracking parameter that flags the session as a test. Direct clicks from the ad interface won’t work.
- Need help simulating a purchase or credit card submission? If the final conversion step requires a real transaction and you can’t bypass it, ask your affiliate network to help. Simply copy the ad preview URL and send it to your affiliate manager.
- Troubleshooting: If the test conversion isn’t recorded, revisit each step of your tracking setup or reach out to your Adskeeper manager for assistance.
