Conversion Tracking Setup Checklist

1. Configure conversion tracking in Adskeeper

2. Configure tracking on the third-party side

3. Complete the settings required for your tracking method

4. Configure tracking link settings

When is conversion tracking fully enabled?

Setting up conversion tracking in AdSpace Adskeeper allows you to measure valuable user actions, such as registrations, purchases, or other advertiser-defined conversions.

Without conversion data, manual and AI-based campaign optimization cannot work effectively. The Adskeeper dashboard will also be unable to show important metrics, including CPA, profit, revenue, ROAS, and conversions.

Use this checklist to verify that your tracking setup is complete.

1. Configure conversion tracking in Adskeeper

Complete the following steps in AdSpace Adskeeper:

  • Conversion tracking method selection - Choose the tracking method that works in your case: Pixel or Postback.
  • Conversion goals defining – Set up specific conversion goals relevant to your campaign success.
  • Tracking links configuration – Add tracking tags to collect and analyze essential performance data.

2. Configure tracking on the third-party side

Some settings must also be completed in your tracking platform. Depending on the selected method, these may include:

  • Adding the Postback link.
  • Adjusting the third-party integration settings.

3. Complete the settings required for your tracking method

3.1. Pixel

To use Pixel tracking, complete the core Adskeeper setup and configure the following settings.

3.1.1. Install the Pixel Code

Ideally, install the Pixel Code on every page of the funnel. However, it is mandatory to place it on:

  • The first page of the funnel where users land after clicking an ad;
  • All pages where conversions occur to ensure accurate tracking.

3.1.2. Select the conversion type

Choose the conversion type that matches your tracking requirements:

  • URL-based conversion - Tracks conversion based on the URL of the page and conditions selected in AdSpace.

Checklist

  • Event-based conversions - Tracks conversion based on the event selected in AdSpace.

For event-based tracking, use the event snippet code either:

  • When a page loads, which works similarly to a URL condition; or
  • When a user clicks a specific element.

3.2.Postback

To configure Postback tracking, complete the core setup and then follow these steps:

3.2.1. Obtain a third-party GET parameter for {click_id} macro in the Tracking link settings (Tracking Tags);

3.2.2. Generate a Postback link generation and insert it in the third-party system. A separate endpoint (link) is required for each conversion goal.

4. Configure tracking link settings

Tracking links can include macros and additional parameters to transfer detailed campaign data. You can:

  • Click the plus button to add another macro.
  • Add any other parameters required by your tracking system.
  • Add UTM tags to the tracking link.

Use the Tracking link preview field to check how the final link will appear with all selected macros and tags.

Checklist_2

When a user clicks an ad, the selected macros are added to the tracking link automatically and replaced with actual values. This allows your third-party system to receive the required click data. The default parameters shown next to the macros are replaced with the corresponding parameters used by your tracking system.

Keep the following points in mind:

  • Add UTM tags for any analytics tools that need to receive campaign data.
  • Most macros are optional. However, {click_id} is required for Postback and Webhook tracking and is added automatically for other tracking methods.
  • Do not paste the complete tracking link into the Tracking Tags section. Add only the parameters needed for tracking. Adskeeper will add them to the tracking link automatically.

When is conversion tracking fully enabled?

The setup is complete when all of the following conditions are met:

  1. A tracking method has been selected.
  2. At least one conversion goal has been created with:
    • A clear conversion name.
    • The appropriate conversion category.
    • A unique identifier, such as a URL condition or event name.
  3. All required configurations have been completed on both sides:
    • In Adskeeper.
    • In the third-party tracking system.
    • According to the selected tracking method.
  4. A test conversion has been completed successfully and appears correctly in the Adskeeper interface.

Once these steps are completed, conversion tracking is fully enabled.
